Studies Show Paths to Improved Care in Barrett’s Esophagus

n two independent studies relevant to quality assurance in the management of Barrett’s esophagus, one found that nearly one-third of patients in the United States may be undergoing follow-up endoscopic surveillance too often, while the other documented a steep increase in complications when six or more specimens are taken during endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR).
