Q. What is eosinophilic esophagitis? How is it different from heartburn?
A. Eosinophilic esophagitis is an inflammation in the lining of the esophagus from an allergic reaction to food. The food allergy causes inflammation cells called eosinophils to line the esophagus, which results in swelling and narrowing of the esophagus.
