Barrett Esophagus Recurrence After Complete Endoscopic Eradication with Radiofrequency Ablation

Recent guidelines recommend radiofrequency ablation (RFA) as the primary treatment for Barrett esophagus (BE) with high-grade dysplasia and the preferred treatment for BE with low-grade dysplasia (LGD; Am J Gastroenterol 2016; 111:30). Recent best-practice recommendations suggest that, after complete endoscopic eradication of LGD, endoscopic surveillance should be performed with four-quadrant biopsy annually for 2 years and then every 3 years continuously (NEJM JW Gastroenterol Dec 2016 and Gastroenterology 2016; 151:822).
