Scientists at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) say they have found a way to target drug-resistant esophageal cancer cells by exploiting the different energy needs of cancerous versus healthy cells. The team, whose study (“Targeting glutamine-addiction and overcoming CDK4/6 inhibitor resistance in human esophageal squamous cell carcinomaâ€) appears in Nature Communications, believes their findings open the doorway to new treatments for an otherwise lethal cancer.
