GINNY SUGIMOTO | Heartburn that won’t stop

Many people have occasional heartburn after eating too much spicy food or drinking too much coffee or alcohol. That burning pain comes from “reflux,” when stomach acid flows in the wrong direction — back up through the esophagus linking your stomach to your mouth. The burning pain you feel and sour taste in your mouth from stomach acid often happens right after eating and can feel worse when you’re lying down.
