Esophageal cancer is the eighth most common cancer worldwide, and the sixth most common cause of cancer‐related death with an estimated 456 000 new cases in 2012 (3.2% of the total), and China is one of the high‐incidence region of esophageal cancer with 60% of all new cases worldwide.
