When Strictures Too Tight To Pass, EUS Unnecessary To Stage Esophageal Cancers, Experts Say

Experts are calling for a revision of practice recommendations that encourage all nonmetastatic esophageal cancers to be staged using endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). The guidance reflects the availability of new data from patients with esophageal cancer showing that all of those whose esophageal strictures were too narrow for a standard gastroscope to pass through had advanced cancer.
